How intelligence changed a surveillance strategy
The Brief
A client approached The Find Group with concerns that appeared to justify immediate surveillance.
On the surface, the instruction seemed straightforward: deploy an investigator, observe the subject and document their movements.
We took a different approach.
What We Found
Before fieldwork began, our team reviewed the information already available and tested the assumptions underpinning the brief. Several inconsistencies emerged:
- The subject’s routine had changed.
- Historical information was no longer reliable.
- A location thought to be central to the matter was unlikely to produce meaningful evidence.
Deploying surveillance against the original brief would have consumed time and budget without necessarily answering the client’s question.
Our Approach
The intelligence was reassessed, records were cross-checked and the likely points of activity were narrowed.
Only then was surveillance deployed.
The result was a more focused operation, directed by verified intelligence rather than assumption.
The Outcome
The investigation produced relevant observations within a significantly clearer operational window, while avoiding unnecessary field hours.
More importantly, the evidence addressed the client’s actual question rather than simply documenting activity.
